Hi, I’m Vania!

I’m a UX/UI designer focused on creating digital experiences that are visually delightful and equally functional. I come from a biology background, and use a research-first method in order to develop design solutions that actually work.

I am currently based in Boston as a student at Tufts University, where I study Engineering Psychology.

When I’m not designing, I’m either watching chess videos or learning Chinese on Duolingo.

Where it all began...

If you ask anyone who knew me as a kid, you’d learn that I asked a lot of questions and talked to a lot of people. Or I could just show you the thick book I received as a present for my 8th birthday, aptly titled The Big Book of Questions & Answers.

My love for connecting with other people led me to work in customer service for multiple years, where my abilities broadened from engagement to providing solutions to consumers’ problems. After seeing customers struggle to navigate credit card machines and having to learn clunky interfaces myself, I couldn’t help but think, “how could we make this better?”

The other puzzle piece

I also loved movies as a kid. I owned the Spider-Man trilogy on DVD, along with light-up Spider-Man sneakers. Since then, I’ve seen every reboot (multiple times, if we’re talking about the Andrew Garfield ones), wrote my college admissions essay on my favorite web-slinging hero, and watched The Amazing Spider-Man the night before taking the SAT. For good luck, of course.

Over the years, my love for movies and filmmaking only grew until I’d been making home videos and short films for over a decade. Seriously.

At the core of it, I love how visuals tell a story. Every detail from the lighting to an actor’s simple gesture has meaning. I wanted to combine visual expression with providing solutions to people oriented problems, and arrived at UX/UI Design.

Compounded with a strong interest in graphic design, my mission to create design solutions that are expressive and accessible to users of all backgrounds was born.
